Ichthyophthirias is or white spot disease is caused by a ciliated protozoan called Ichthyophthirius multifiliis. This study is intended to evaluate the effects of different concentrations of garlic, geranium and lavender extracts on I. multifiliis. A total of 140 specimens of naturally infected Capoeta damascina with an approximate weight of 30.21 grams were caught and transported to the laboratory. Fish were exposed to 5, 10, 20 and 40 mg/l of garlic, geranium and lavender extracts. The number of parasites in fish and the fish survival rate were evaluated in different groups after 4 hours. The strongest effects were observed in fish receiving 40 mg/l of garlic and lavender extracts which shows a significant difference with the geranium and the control group (p≤0.05). The results also revealed a significant difference between the number of parasites and the concentration of the extracts in test groups (p≤0.05). According to the findings of this study, using herbal extracts especially garlic is recommended, however, more studies are needed to achieve the LC50 dose for different fish species.
