Golden gray mullet, Liza aurata is one of the most valuable and sensitive species in the Caspian Sea. Given the possibility of catching Caspian bony fish only in the second six months of each year, the present study was conducted from autumn to winter 2015 in the Caspian Sea and Gorgan Bay to investigate the effect of season and habitat on hematological and biochemical analysis of golden mullet fish serum. 30 golden mullet fish that were caught in both seasons randomly from the Caspian Sea and Gorgan Bay with a blade net were studied. The blood study was divided into two sections: blood serum studies (liver enzymes, cortisol, glucose and protein) and hematological indices (blood and differential cells). The results of enzymatic indices showed that all indices had the highest amount in the autumn seasons and the lowest in the winter, indicating a greater influence of the season on sampling location. The results of hematological, immunological and biochemical indices showed that these indices did not follow the same trend and did not adhere to a single characteristic and each index showed different responses under different environmental conditions and seasons. Overall, the results of this study confirm that the blood and serum parameters of mullet fish in different environmental and time conditions have different responses and among these parameters, the enzymatic parameters showed significant trend and could be suitable biomarkers.
