Alburnus chalcoides is a commercially valuable fish species in southern part of the Caspian Sea Basin. The present study is conducted with the aim of investigating the prevalence, mean intensity, and abundance of ectoparasite infectious in Alburnus chalcoides in the southeastern Caspian Sea Basin. The fish samples were caught from Cheshmeh-kileh, Shirood, Talar, and Tajan Rivers during the spring and autumn 2017, and transferred alive to the laboratory, parasitological examination was made after administration of human anesthesia and biometry, and prevalence, abundance and mean intensity were used to describe the parasite populations. The statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics, and significance for all tests was judged at P < 0.05. ArcGIS Desktop program was used to create a geographical information system database. A total of 10 ectoparasites including Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, Myxobolus pseudoparvus, M. muelleri, Dactylogyrus chalcalburni, D. minor, Gyrodactylus laevis, G. prostate, Paradiplozoon homoion, Clinostomum complanatum, Diplostomum spathaceum were isolated, and the most abundant species was related to monogenean. The greatest number of individual parasites exhibited clustering near the coastal areas in the central and western areas of the Province. Also, the total number of parasite species was reported to be positively correlated with the host size, and the prevalence of different parasitic groups increased gradually in spring, and, subsequently, a gently decline could be seen in the prevalence of parasitic infectious during autumn. The present study is the first report of the of Gyrodactylus laevis in Iran.
