Identification of benthic foraminifera in southern Caspian Sea from Bahnamir to Babolsar

Abstract

The sediments of Caspian Sea were sampled from the depth less than 20 meters in order to identification of benthic foraminifera of southern Caspian Sea in the region of Babolsar to Bahnamir. The samples were gathered in the autumn (2010) with van veen grab from nine stations ranging in depth 0f 5, 10, 20 meters. From benthic foraminifera species which was pulled out from the samples, there were 2 identified species belong to 2 genera of 2 families. (Ammonia beccarii caspica & Elphidium littorale caspicus). Benthic foraminifera were observed in all stations and the cosmopolitan species, Ammonia beccarii caspica, were dominant in all station.
